Bridging the Gap Between Community Needs and the Capacity to Respond
The Community Response System of South Los Angeles, known as CRSSLA, was created to address a persistent challenge: community needs often grow faster than the capacity of government and traditional institutions to respond. Our original program model illustrates this widening gap. As South Los Angeles communities face public health emergencies, economic instability, violence, housing insecurity, food insecurity, climate threats, and other crises, residents need a response system that is local, trusted, coordinated, and ready to act. CRSSLA brings together faith based organizations, nonprofits, businesses, healthcare partners, academic institutions, government agencies, and community leaders to strengthen the region’s ability to prepare, respond, recover, and build long term resilience.
